I’m not a beer person, but I’ve always wanted to go to a beer or wine tasting and I just so happened to come across this one yesterday called the Port Jeff Brewing Company.
My uncle and I sampled five different beers each for $10 – what a steal! I tried: White Beach Whit, Blueberry Wheat, Seaside Shandy, Red Sky Delight and Schooner Pale Ale. My favorite ones were the White Beach Whit and Schooner Pale Ale and I think it’s because they were light tasting and fruity.
One reason why I don’t like beer is because it’s usually filled with GMO’s. Conventional beers like Corona, Coors Light, Pabst Blue Ribbon and so many others contain ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, MSG, and different dyes. These additives all have their own harmful side effects, you can read all about this on the FoodBabe.com blog post for more details.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, most craft beers don’t have these additives, a lot of them are organic, and they oftentimes have their own unique and flavorful taste.
After visiting the brewery I researched craft beers and I found some benefits that I wanted to share with you all. Aside from the previously mentioned benefits, here are a few more reasons why you should shy away from conventional beers and visit your local brewery. I’m not a connoisseur or a professional by any means, these are just some of my own findings.
Since the flavor profile is developed differently at each brewery, you’re able to experience so many different flavors.
I can attest to this, all of the crafted beers that I tasted were so much better than any other conventional beer that I’ve ever drank.
3. Health Benefits
With moderate consumption craft beer is high in fiber, has a number of vitamins and low in sugar. According to the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture beer is a rich source of silicon, which can help to increase bone density and may help to prevent osteoporosis.
